The Sun Sentinel features Pinnacle at La Cabaña in its ‘What’s being built there?’ series. According to Pinnacle partner Tim Wheat, the complex will offer one- and two-bedroom apartments for residents aged 62 and older. Amenities will include meeting spaces, a fitness center, computer room, dog walk, putting green, and cornhole court. Construction is underway, with an estimated mid-2025 completion date. The project aims to provide affordable, age-appropriate living options for seniors in the area.
Seniors “generally tend to be more cost burdened, they are paying more than a reasonable proportion (of their income) on housing-related costs,” Tim said. He said the project would provide “much-needed housing stability for the most vulnerable in Miramar” but acknowledges it still “won’t come close to meeting the need. We have a significantly aging population that is going to need affordable age restricted housing.”
