The Wolfson family in Miami has been recognized with the 2023 Tocqueville Award for Outstanding Philanthropy by United Way of Miami, CityBiz reports. The family has been involved in philanthropy for over 100 years and has focused on supporting education, healthcare, affordable housing, and the arts. The award acknowledges the family’s crucial role in making Miami-Dade County a better place to live, work, and play. The family has been involved in various philanthropic efforts, including supporting Miami-Dade College and creating the Wolfsonian Museum-FIU. Louis Wolfson III continues the family’s legacy of giving back to the community by building affordable, workforce and market-rate housing throughout Florida. The Tocqueville Award recognizes the commitment and generosity of those who strive to improve the lives of others and create a lasting impact in their communities. “It is our job to educate the future generations to get involved with philanthropy through volunteering of time or charitable giving or both,” said Louis Wolfson III, a founding partner of Pinnacle, one of Florida’s largest developers of affordable housing communities. “If our community has helped us achieve the American Dream, then we must pass it onto future generations so they too can grow up and thrive in one of the most culturally diverse, economically thriving, and awesome cities on the planet.”
