RIVIERA BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — The city of Riviera Beach is looking to help families in the midst of our housing crisis, while also revitalizing an important part of downtown.
Tuesday, city leaders broke ground on a project that would help bring 110 new affordable units to the community. This is just one project that will help showcase the city’s “Reimagine Riviera Beach” efforts.
Berkeley Landing will be more than a $35 million dollar project and will bring 110 new single, two, and three-bedroom units to the Broadway Corridor along with two live/workspaces.
Kevin Kroll, the director of institutional funding, Wendover Housing Partners said, “We have recognized the need for affordable housing throughout the state of Florida, and we hope to attract new residents to the city while elevating the quality of life for existing residents.”
The complex will sit at 3100 Broadway Avenue and will be crucial and revitalizing the corridor.
“This development will also activate the Broadway corridor by creating ‘live/work lofts’, which will assist entrepreneurs in truly living, working, and playing in our city,” said Jonathan Evans, Riviera Beach’s city manager.
The Reimagine Riviera Beach redevelopment plan looks to make improvements to areas and some of its projects include:
A new City Hall on Blue Heron between West 23rd Street and West 22nd St, a recreation and wellness center, and renovations to fire and police stations.
